The STIGA Tornado 398 side discharge lawn tractor is just one of three similar machines from Stiga. Similar to the 5108 W but sporting  Stiga ST 450 single cylinder engine and 18″ rear wheels. This mower does not offer a collection facility, instead, it side discharges the cut grass, making it excellent for the maintenance of grass which may have become a little longer than a collector can easily cope with, and where the finish is not so critical. With the optional mulch cover in place, the mower will leave an excellent finish on shorter grass too.

Engine 
Supplying that power is a Stiga 432cc ST 450 single cylinder engine , offering an impressive 7kw of power, reduced vibration , excellent fuel-economy and low-emission operation.

Drive

An infinitely variable hydrostatic drive controlled by a foot pedal optimizes manoeuvrability and makes it easy to work safely around garden features.

The Cutting Deck 

The 98cm twin-bladed reinforced cutter-deck of the STIGA Tornado 398 is made from heavy duty pressed steel and can be used either as a side discharge machine or with the optional mulch kit.  A washing link is fitted for easy removal of debris that can be corrosive, as well as hindering the clean operation of the deck.

The 'edge to edge' width of this mower is 112cm with the side flap hinged up out of the way

The Chassis

The STIGA Tornado 398 features a rugged steel front axle designed to cope with the demands of regular heavy-duty use across rough terrain with 15" front wheels and 18" rear wheels
