Aspen fuel is an environmentally friendly alternative to regular petrol. It is for use in all small 2-stroke and 4-stroke spark ignition engines. It is an ‘alkylate fuel’ made by a special process which produces a fuel with similar combustion properties to petrol but burns cleanly. The key difference is that unlike petrol, Aspen does not contain dangerous substances such as benzene and aromatic hydrocarbons. Aspen also stays fresh for many years, whereas petrol goes stale in a matter of weeks.

What is the main ingredient?

The main ingredient of Aspen fuel is Alkylate Petrol. The Alkylation process takes place in oil refineries where surplus gases from the crude oil distillation and cracking plants are mixed to form a liquid called Alkylate. Alkylate is the purest form of petroleum product. This Alkylate is shipped to the Hindas plant in Sweden, where it is mixed with a few other components to form Aspen alkylate fuel.

What makes Aspen better than petrol?

Aspen contains no benzene, sulphur or aromatic hydrocarbons. These substances can and do, cause serious health problems including Leukaemia.

The engine also benefits from lower carbon deposits resulting in a very clean upper cylinder, exhaust and spark plug.

Due to the absence of ethanol, Aspen can be stored safely, either in the can or in the engine’s fuel tank without degrading. You can leave your machine in the garage all winter with Aspen in it and be confident that it will start again easily come spring.

The environment also benefits from the reduced emissions, for example, the formation of ground-level ozone (smog) is reduced by over 50%. When using Aspen, you can visibly see cleaner exhaust waste and the smell is far less obnoxious.
