    • Aspen Alkylate FuelWhy do so many people in East Devon use Aspen Alkylate Fuel?  The simple reason is that the biggest problem facing the garden machinery in our East Devon service department these days is that of stale petrol. This causes poor starting, bad running, poor power, and damage to fuel system components. Normal unleaded petrol has a shelf life of only 30 days. A solution to this is to use Aspen  which will last for 5 years! Aspen 2-stroke and 4-stroke alkylate petrol is the cleanest form of petrol that is today available on the market. Although Aspen  is more expensive than standard petrol the benefits are immense. Not only will your machinery be kept in better health but so will the operator! Aspen alkylate fuel is available in East Devon  near Exeter from ourselves. Due to the increasing concerns regarding the safety of our employees and customers, our policy is that we no longer use ordinary ‘pump’ petrol in our workshop. Our Batteries are available in 2,4,5 and 7Ah. The higher the Amp per hour, the longer the battery will run.       • Blowers & Blower/VacsThis section covers Blowers and blower/vacs from Echo and Stiga They provide all the power necessary for professional blowing and vacuuming performance. They are ideal for making a clean sweep of your garden, driveway or even your tennis court. Hand-held Blowers and blower/vacs are ideal for a quick clean-up of leaves and rubbish, or for blowing grass clippings back onto the lawn from driveways, paths and patios. Some handheld blowers can be converted to a garden vac by swapping pipes around and fitting a bag. For ‘air sweeping’ of large areas a backpack blower is ideal, having more power and air velocity as well as being easier to use over extended time periods. The downsides of a backpack are cost and storage space. We just love the range of petrol blowers from Echo who are top quality Japanese manufacturer.       • BrushcuttersBrushcutters and Strimmers from Echo and Stiga Brushcutters and Strimmers often get confused, so let’s clear this up! The humble strimmer, so-called as a derivative of ‘String-Trimmer,’ is usually a lightweight electric machine with a bent shaft. The more robust, petrol-powered machines are normally classed as Brush-Cutters, they have a straight shaft and a gearbox, and have the ability to accept a blade to truly ‘cut brush’. Brush cutters and Strimmers are available from 22cc to 50cc, with the smaller units normally being ‘loop’ handle’ and the larger units having double, or ‘cow horn’ handles.       • ChainsawsChainsaws from Echo and Stiga You will find only a small quantity of Chainsaws on this site, as we have decide to only deal with Echo for petrol powered saws. We know that although these saws are not the cheapest around, they are the best quality that I have ever found. There is a good range of both ‘homeowner’ and ‘Pro User’ saws in the Echo line up. Echo quality truly echos its Japanese heritage, after all, the best two stroke machines in the world hail from Japan. The 5 year Domestic, and 2 year Pro user warranty shows just how much confidence Echo, and ourselves have in these products. Echo also do a range of Cordless Chainsaws which are extremely good, but possibly a bit expensive for domestic use, so we stock the very popular and excellent value Stiga 700 rear handled saw.       • Petrol ride onPetrol ride on mowers Petrol ride on mowers will sometimes be called Garden tractors. You will also hear them referred to as Lawn tractors. Whatever you decide to call them they will fall into several different categories. They will differ in their method of grass ejection and collection which will be:- Direct Rear Collect (possibly with an option to mulch) Side Discharge         (possibly also with an option to mulch) Paddock ‘Mulching’ (a side discharge machine with the optional mulch kit fitted) Fine Lawn ‘Multiclip’ Why will you choose to buy Mountfield or Stiga? Well to be honest both brands will be from the same factory and many model platforms will have a variant in both brands. You may find they have slightly different specifications between the brands.       • Collection Ride OnsCollection Rideons are essential for those who need to collect every blade of cut grass for removed from the lawned area. The Stiga range of Collection Rideons which we sell are all classed as ‘vacuum collectors’ as they work by the force of the rotating blades causing a high pressure area above the blades which blows the grass up a central tube into the rear box. As a consequence there is also a vacuum under the blade which helps to stand the grass to be cut cleanly.
      • Mulching Ride OnsMulching Rideons are ideal for those landowners who have no wish to dispose of the grass clippings from their grassed areas. These Mulching Rideons will generally be either front deck machines which offer high manoeuvrability, or the more traditional mid mounted decks. Many decks have either side, or rear discharge options which can then be fitted with mulching kits for a finer finish.
      • Canycom Ride On BrushcuttersCanycom Ride On Brushcutters Just as the name implies, the Canycom Ride On Brushcutters are brushcutters that you drive, and they really will tackle overgrown areas of brush. These machines are extremely heavy duty and as such they are quite heavy which means that the sit firmly on the ground and can push over quite large saplings and other undergrowth. Anything they can push over can be chopped up by the heavy duty mower blade shrouded by an equally heavy duty deck cowl. Because of their 4WD, even weight distribution and low centre of gravity these rough and tough mowers can tackle steep slopes in complete safety.       • Zero Turn Ride onsZero Turn Ride ons So called Zero Turn Ride ons  are relative newcomers to the ride on mower scene. These machines steer by controling the speed of the two rear wheels individually. By slowing the left wheel and speeding up the right will turn the mower to the left. The front wheels ar castor wheels a bit like a supermarket trolley or baby buggy and enable the front to point wherever the rear wheels dictate At the extreme it is possible to get one wheel rotating forwards whilst the other goes backwards allowing the mower to turn on itself, hence the term “Zero Turn”. Dont be cautious Now, this may sound daunting but in reality the steering soon becomes intuitive and large areas of ground can be covered very quickly. This type of machine is rarely found with a collection facility and in the main they are side discharge or mulching mowers. Until very recently Zero Turn Ride ons were all powered by petrol and steered by two F/R levers, one for each wheel. More recently there have been introductions of Li Ion Battery powered machine which lend themselves to ‘fly by wire’ joystick control. We can help and advise…
    • CultivatorsTillers are available in many sizes, the smallest being little more than powered hoes, but ideal for easy weed control in regularly tilled areas and in between shrubs etc. The cultivators with approx 3.5 hp motors will be of the front tyne variety and suited to cultivating the previously tilled ground, whereas the 6hp models will be suited to rotavating of virgin pasture. The rear tyne tillers with front-driven wheels are the ultimate machines and are suitable for larger areas.
    • Garden Chippers and ShreddersGarden shredders start with the small electric, spinning disc type which is suited to shredding green garden waste. We tend not to sell this type unless specifically ordered. They progress in size and power to the larger, petrol-powered chippers, but we have found many of these to be disappointing. But then we found Eliet shredders. These machines shred material with the grain rather than across, using multiple blades, This results in lower power input than equivalent capacity chippers, and they also benefit from lower noise levels. Being shredders, rather than chippers, the Eliet can handle the leafy products with ease, as well as being able to handle dirty material which may be contaminated with stones or nails. All of our customers who have bought Eliet machines have been overjoyed with their shredders.

    • Used machineryWe occasionally have good quality used lawnmowers, strimmers and brush cutters for sale. These secondhand machines will have passed our rigorous quality inspection before being put up for sale. This section is for our used machinery. All pre-owned machines will be fully serviced prior to sale and will be sold locally (within 20 miles) with a 3-month warranty on major components, (belts, blades, cables and batteries will be excluded from warranty but will all be in a serviceable condition at the time of sale).

We need to understand that we have been using E5 fuels for years now, so we are used to the problems associated with the 5% Ethanol that  E5 fuel contains.
